Bricktops' Jazz Babes first performed together in New Orleans in 1990. It was made up from musicians we knew in England, and who played with various bands. When we arrived back in England, after a really great time in New Orleans we decided ( with a lot of help from the fans ), to keep the band together. We have made four recordings... ' SWEET LIKE THIS ' our first recording with the original New Orleans line-up, ' STOMPIN' at the JAZZ CAFE ', ' CHRISTMAS with BRICKTOPS' JAZZ BABES ', and ' AT MISS JENNY'S BALL '. The first title is completely sold out, but if anyone wants it we could get reprints.
If you visit the 'Satchmo' site below, there is a link to 'Louisiana Music Archive' where you can hear a few clips from one of 'Bricktop's' recordings! |
The hottest spot in New Orleans...a 'must' if you visit the birthplace of Jazz! This is Fred Burnett's very useful site....lots of gigs and bands in the North of England. VISIT THIS SITE! Listen to the music...its great! Lots of good things and more links here Another good site......these two sites should give you a good start at finding what you want. Give this a try! Tim is one of the greatest present day clarinetists...buy his records! The greatest Jazzman of all time....go there! The place to visit before going to New Orleans... Wherever you go visit this site first....dont holiday in a place that doesn't serve Jazz!!!!
If you ever visit New Orleans be sure to visit Fritzels Bar at 733 Bourbon Street. This is the bar where the 'Jazz Babes' first played and is still one of the best places to hear live Jazz in the whole world! |
